People in IRIS Meet with Legislators

TMG facilitates local meetings between individuals in IRIS and legislators to provide legislators the opportunity to meet their constituents who are enrolled in IRIS and hear firsthand about their experiences with the program. These visits are a great opportunity for legislators to learn how self-directed supports work and the unique way TMG’s IRIS Consultants partner with people to achieve their long term care goals.

For the past two years, TMG has held these sessions in local coffee shops with area legislators, individuals in IRIS, their family members and/or caregivers, IRIS Consultants and other TMG representatives. On November 14, Austin Pena met with Representatives Tyler August and Amy Loudenbeck. Community integrated employment was the topic of discussion. Austin shared his experiences working in his community. On November 19, Madeleine Ehlers, Andrew Gerbitz and John Schommer met with Senator Scott Fitzgerald and Cindy Block from his staff. The three of them impressed Senator Fitzgerald and Cindy with their ready answers to his many questions.
